Greensburg 2.5 ton "Monitor" Battery Tunnel Locomotive

This project was possible due to the gracious donation of the Traylor Brothers Inc. company, of Evansville, Indiana. Special thanks for the management team & the ground crews to make it all happen. These two foot gauge Greensburg "Monitor" 2.5-Ton units were utilized for underground tunneling construction projects throughout the United States.  Tradition uses were pulling the muck cars from the cutting face at the Tunnel Boring Machine (T.B.M) to the outside refuse pile.

Our restoration team picked the locomotives up & immediately commenced their work on one of the units.  This project had a special deadline to meet. We had to add to the excitement for one of our dedicated members birthday celebrations. We quickly adapted one of our portable generators to by-pass the batteries & back on the rail it went. Completed Nov 2007

Special thanks also to the brothers (owners) of the Teaberry & Southern Railroad for allowing our group to bring this locomotive for its 1st test run.
